Molochite Suspension Blend (200Mesh 75micron)
(Packaged in plastic bag and outer white hessian sack)
New Suspencion blend Flour for colloidal silica with special additives. This removes the need to keep primary or secondary slurries stirred continuosly or the need to discard binder after a session. Thus either saving energy or reducing material waste. Simply make up the slurry as usual and the flour will remain in suspension requiring only an occasional stirring after periods of stillness. In the past many small foundrymen have been put off moving to ceramic shell casting because of the need to have a permanently stirred slurry tank for dipping in to. (Conventional flours and binders settle quite quickly and are difficult to remix once this has happened). Slightly more expensive than traditional molochite but well worth it for the time saving.
Molochite -200 is calcined clay used in the production of ceramic shells for hot metal casting. This is the flour grade of the Molochites used for the primary slurry usually with Primecote Binder.
Calcined clays are produced by holding the material at 15000C which makes it very temperature stable. It also is safer to use than silica based refractories.
This is a much cheaper substitute than Zircon or Chromite heavy sands and suitable for all non ferrous metals
Molochite is the standard “back-up” refractory material used in the production of investment casting shell moulds. Freedom from contamination makesMolochite an ideal filler for foundry coatings in iron, steel and aluminum castings.
The key benefits which Molochite offers to the Investment Casting Industry may be summarized as follows:
Unparalleled consistency of composition
Freedom from contamination
Consistency of size gradings
Compatibility with binders
Angular grain shape
Low dust content stuccos
Wide choice of gradings
